How much do you want to be healed?
When we have a discomfort or a problem, physical or not, our natural tendency is to want to be healed and get rid of it as soon as possible.

However, there is another hidden impulse or tendency inside us that may want us to remain sick. Most people are not aware of this part because it operates unconsciously. It stays hidden in the background and influences our thoughts, emotions, decisions, and behaviors without us realizing it.
Unless we identify and resolve this hidden impulse, complete healing becomes very difficult. We may try everything available from mainstream medicine or alternative medicine and still not obtain the results we want. The reason is simple: one part of us wants to heal while another part resists healing. When these two opposite forces coexist, an internal conflict is created.
This hidden impulse – that one that wants us to remain sick – can appear in many different forms. Sometimes it appears as fear. Fear of change. Fear of responsibility. Fear of facing life without the protection that the illness provides. Sometimes it appears as an excuse. Sometimes it appears as a belief that our condition is incurable and nothing can help us. Sometimes it appears as the conviction that nothing can be done and there is no hope. Other times it appears as fear of losing a disability pension, financial support, attention, care, sympathy, or any secondary benefit connected with the illness.
The important thing is not the form that this hidden impulse takes. The important thing is to recognize that it exists.
A simple test can help us discover it.
Say loudly:
“I am completely healed.”
Do not think about the statement. Do not analyze it. Simply feel it.
Ask yourself:
How true does this statement feel to me?
Not what do I think about it.
How does it feel?
Be completely honest with yourself.
If the answer is 10 out of 10, then there is no apparent resistance at this level.
But if the score is less than 10 out of 10, let’s say 6 out of 10, then the missing 4 out of 10 represents the part of you that is not convinced, not aligned, or not ready to accept complete healing.
This is what we can call the sick part.
Now say loudly:
“I am not healed 4 out of 10.”
Or whatever percentage corresponds to your situation.
Again, do not think too much.
Observe.
Does this statement remind you of a specific event from your life?
Does it trigger a memory?
Does it create an emotion?
Do you feel any tension somewhere in your body?
You may feel something in your legs, stomach, chest, neck, back, shoulders, head, or somewhere else.
You may also feel sadness, fear, anger, guilt, disappointment, hopelessness, frustration, or another emotion.
If you do not feel anything, that is completely fine. There is no need to force anything.
Simply repeat the exercise another day.
But if you feel something, pay attention.
That sensation may be indicating something important.
Very often underneath that physical sensation there are negative emotions, negative beliefs, unresolved conflicts, painful memories, or specific life events connected with it.
For example, a person may discover fear underneath the sensation.
Another person may discover anger.
Someone else may discover a belief such as:
“I don’t deserve to be healthy.”
“It is not safe to be healthy.”
“I will be alone if I recover.”
“My condition will never improve.”
“Life is too difficult without my illness.”
These beliefs are usually unconscious. We do not walk around thinking them all day. Yet they can influence our reality in powerful ways.
The body frequently acts as a storage place for unresolved experiences. Emotions that were never fully felt, expressed, understood, or released can remain active within us for many years.
This is why certain sensations, tensions, or discomforts can become valuable clues.
Think of them as signs pointing toward something deeper that wants to be seen.
Instead of fighting the symptom immediately, we can become curious about it.
What is it trying to show me?
What emotion is connected with it?
What belief is connected with it?
What memory is connected with it?
What unresolved issue is connected with it?
Asking these questions can reveal information that our conscious mind was previously ignoring. In EFT and Optimal EFT we work precisely on this „4 out of 10“ to bring about healing, and this is one of the reasons EFT and Optimal EFT has proven to be such a powerful tool.
Another way to scan yourself for possible reasons why healing is not occurring is by asking your heart.
Many traditions throughout history have considered the heart to be a center of wisdom and inner knowing. While the mind analyzes, compares, judges, and calculates, the heart often communicates through intuition, feelings, impressions, and direct knowing.
To perform this exercise, find a quiet place where you can relax.
Sit comfortably.
Keep your back straight.
Do not cross your legs.
Relax your body.
Focus on your breathing for several seconds.
Allow your attention to settle.
Then bring your awareness to your heart in the middle of your chest.
Do not rush.
Simply place your attention there.
When you feel ready, ask:
“My heart, why am I not completely healed?”
Then remain silent.
Listen.
Do not force an answer.
Do not create an answer.
Allow whatever comes to arise naturally.
You may receive a word.
You may receive an image.
You may receive a memory.
You may receive a feeling.
You may suddenly remember an event from your past.
You may become aware of a fear or belief that you had never noticed before.
Whatever appears, observe it without judgment.
Many people dismiss these impressions because they seem too simple, too emotional, or too illogical.
Yet sometimes the most important answers come in this way.
The real challenge is learning to listen to the heart instead of listening only to logic.
Our logical mind is useful and necessary, but it does not always have access to everything that is happening within us. The unconscious mind, emotions, and deeper layers of our being often communicate in different ways.
The more we practice listening, the easier it becomes to recognize these messages
Healing is not always only a physical process.
Sometimes it involves understanding ourselves more deeply.
Sometimes it involves releasing old emotions.
Sometimes it involves changing beliefs.
Sometimes it involves resolving inner conflicts.
Sometimes it involves forgiving ourselves or others.
And sometimes it involves recognizing the hidden part that does not want to let go of the illness.
When this hidden part is finally seen, understood, and resolved, something begins to change. The internal conflict decreases. More energy becomes available for healing. The body and mind are no longer receiving contradictory messages.
The goal is not to blame ourselves for being sick.
The goal is to become aware of all the forces operating within us.
Awareness is the first step.
Once we become aware of the hidden resistance, we can work with it consciously instead of being controlled by it unconsciously.
The question is not only: “How can I heal?”
The deeper question may be:
“What part of me is afraid of healing, and why?”
The answer to that question may reveal more than years of searching for external solutions.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is hidden resistance to healing?
Hidden resistance to healing refers to unconscious fears, beliefs, emotions, or unresolved experiences that may prevent a person from fully embracing recovery. Even when someone consciously wants to heal, these underlying conflicts can create internal resistance that influences thoughts, behaviors, and emotional responses.
How can I discover whether I have unconscious resistance to healing?
The blog suggests a simple self-reflection exercise by saying, “I am completely healed,” and honestly noticing how true the statement feels. If it does not feel completely true, it may indicate unresolved emotions, limiting beliefs, or hidden fears that deserve further exploration.
Why can unresolved emotions affect the healing process?
According to the blog, unresolved emotions, painful memories, and limiting beliefs may remain stored within us for years. These emotional experiences can influence our physical and emotional well-being, making self-awareness an important step toward understanding potential barriers to healing.
How does listening to your heart help with self-discovery?
The blog recommends spending quiet time focusing on your heart and asking, “Why am I not completely healed?” By observing any thoughts, memories, feelings, or impressions that arise without judgment, you may gain deeper insight into unconscious fears or beliefs that could be influencing your healing journey.
What is the first step toward overcoming resistance to healing?
The first step is developing awareness. By recognizing hidden fears, unresolved emotions, or limiting beliefs instead of ignoring them, you can begin addressing these inner conflicts consciously. Greater self-awareness may help reduce internal resistance and support personal growth throughout the healing process.
